Self Expression

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

I sit on the beach in my pastel colored swimsuit, shaded by the straw, rainbow-threaded visor that lays upon my head.

As I look around I see the souls of thousands of others sprawled across the sand, each with their own unique markings.

Confined by the current COVID restrictions, maintaining an equidistance of 6 feet on each side (for the most part), each grouping of individuals ranging from solo goers to masses larger than 5, bares a distinct identity. From their chairs to their bags, from their attire to their attitudes, each differs from the next.

I observe, as I normally do, catching my internal voice commenting on my surroundings. But each time I’m made aware, I pause to stop the voice.

Souls on the physical plane engaging in unconscious forms of self-expression. What a beauty to behold.

As I move beyond the crowd, I look toward the water, the waves glistening with the overpowering presence of the sun.

Peace.

The view alone screams ‘peace’ in the chaos that encircles me. And that peace is what I seek as a remembrance of staying grounded.
